The 8liens 8rtist Collective

After arriving from the 8th dimension we have been most impressed by what you Earthlings refer to as “Art.” We have decided this cause is worth a sacrifice, and from this the 8liens 8rtist Collective (88C) will be spawned. The 88C has one main goal: connecting NFT enthusiasts (our community) with artists and thus giving artists more exposure to the Ethereum ecosystem, while also giving collectors (who may only be familiar with PFP projects) exposure to low edition art from established as well as up and coming artists.

Phase 1: Mining 88C tokens (Complete- tokens are now available on secondary)

The 88C token will function as a mint pass for all future 8lien 8rtist Collective drops. These future drops will always be free to mint but will require ownership of one 8lien and a specified number of 88C tokens (most between 1–15).

The 88C token is an ERC1155 token with a total supply of 888. The initial mining of these tokens will take place through a burn mechanic:

1. The owners of the 585 fire! traits will be able to burn another 8lien in their wallet in order to create one 88C token. Once a snapshot of the wallets containing the fire! traits is obtained, they will have a set time period to decide to burn an 8lien in exchange for a token.

Fire! trait 8liens will also have the ability to designate a “fire head” or “flames body” 8lien as the burned 8lien, and as these 8liens are burn proof they will remain intact and do not require sacrificing.

1. The remaining tokens not mined by the community will be minted to the treasury wallet for development. They will be used to incentivize artists to join the collective, as well as other development (community growth, incentivizing members of the curation board, etc).

Phase 2: Claiming Art NFTs !

There will be a schedule of drops from different artists to eligible 8liens holders. They will all be editions that are free to mint. To be eligible to receive one, you must own one 8lien as well as 88C token(s) (the exact amount will vary with each piece released). The 88C curation board has been established to help decide which artists are selected to create works for these drops, and to help determine the exact eligibility requirements for each piece. The initial 5 artists who join will be considered founding members and will receive 20 88C tokens and 1 8lien (chosen from a selection in our treasury). After that, tokens will be distributed to artists depending on supply and token mechanics. All NFTs will be ERC1155 tokens minted on our contract listed on Opensea here.

1. The number of 88C tokens required to mint will vary based on the edition size chosen by the artist and the curation board, but will generally be between 1–5 for most drops. The tokens are not “burned” or spent- they remain in your wallet after you claim your NFT . Thus if you hold, for example, 5 88C tokens and at least one 8lien in your wallet, you will be eligible for most of the drops (except for the very low edition ones in which case you may need to buy a few more tokens).
2. All drops will be allowlisted and claimed on our custom manifold site; the max # of editions will be determined for each drop by the artist in collaboration with the curation board.
3. Artists will receive 88C tokens + 8lien(s) as incentives, on a case by case basis. We will also reserve 1 of each edition for the artist and do giveaways for their community of art and 88C token(s).
4. This is just the beginning- we plan to evolve the concept over time to incorporate other concepts while rewarding early collectors and artists!
